I don't want to have the McAfee system, I have Norton Anti virus, but the
computer won't let me install it until I uninstall McAfee. How do I do this?

David

The same way as you uninstall anything.. go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in
Control Panel..

It's unfortunately not that simple. I have the same problem. When I use "Add
Remove Programs", I get the message "In order to uninstall McAfee Security
Center, you need to uninstall al McAfee Services first". I have uninstalled
all other McAfee items in the Add Remove Programs window. But, I still get
the above message.

I have even tried this in Safe Mode. McAfee is apparently very invasive.
Any further suggestions on this matter would be appreciated.

You have to go to the services and there you have to stop all mcafee
services IE set to manual start reboot and then it will uninstall.
That is how I solved the ptoblem.

Yes, that helped GreyTop. I appreciate your reply. I also had to go into
RegEdit and remove everything I could find with "McAfee". Only after all of
that was finally able to install Norton. Thanks for your help.

Glad I could help.
I had to brute force learn how to get rid of it. Hope you like Norton
as much as I.

I am also unable to uninstall some stuff.

Look for other elements of McAfee in Add/Remove Programs.. an example would
be McAfee Privacy Service.. these are the elements of McAfee that have to be
uninstalled before the big one..

Right click on my computer select manage then services select mcafee
products that are runnin and select stop.
