Yes, and in the case where both types are installed, like in my computer,
the device manager will list both types. How can one tell which is which? I
have wondered about that, but so far it hasn't been a problem. If a device
doesn't work on one USB port, I just plug it into another. Yesterday I
plugged in a PNY flash drive into a USB port, got a warning message that it
was USB 1. It worked OK, though, just a little slow. Then later I plugged it
into a different USB port, didn't get the warning message, and it worked
OK - but faster.
How many USB ports do you have?.. are they all integrated into the back
panel of the computer?.. are some in the form of an external hub?.. or maybe
on a separate USB PCI card..
Thanks, Mike. Talk about loosing ones memory, I built the machine! I simply
forgot, but the motherboard has 4 USB 2 ports on the back panel and 6 USB
1.1 headers, 2 of which are connected to the front panel of the case. I
guess I'll have to put a Post-It on the front of the case. ;>)
Remember to put it on the screen's outer plastic edge, otherwise you will be
back here asking how to remove the annoying yellow box from the middle of
the display..
One of the many merits of getting older.. loss of hearing, sight and
memory.. as each year passes, I have noticed traffic on the highway getting
quieter, and telephone directory entries becoming smaller.. if I could
remember which highway and telephone directory, I would tell you.. lol..
Have a great day, and may your shadow only be seen in happy places..
