How can I set categories for top-level display in outgoing email?

I'd like to be able to show a set of category checkboxes in the toolbar area
of MS Outlook emails. (Using the standard MS Outlook category list from
"Options", with either all of them or a subset displayed) It doesn't have
to be checkboxes. It could be a multi-check dialog or multi-select box.
Anything so that the email senders have the category selection displayed
immediatly when they start writing an email.

Outlook 2007 comes close to providing this functionality as it puts the Categories button on the toolbar and displays category choices directly on the message. There's no easy solution in earlier versions.

The response is helpful, however if I'm stuck with Outlook 2003 for a while,
isn't there a way to do this in VB? Does anyone have any examples?

I don't know what you mean by "original ticket information." What I said is that if you install Outlook 2007, it will display a Categories button on the toolbar and will also display existing categories applied to a message directly on the message.
