How can I restore the appearance to the default settings?

I've been playing with the desktop>properties>appearance
tab>advanced settings, and have gotten my computer into a
state of customization that I don't like. I'm having a
hard time undoing my mistakes, and I'm wondering if there
is a way to restore the appearance back to the default
settings? I'm using XP Pro.

P.S.(I don't like how shortcut it looks.)
Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is all I can say, right click on the desktop. Click
Properties. Click the appearence tab. Click a new style
and click apply. If that doesn't answer your question,
Clcik Theme insted of Appearence and Click the "Windows
XP" Theme and then click apply.
