How can I repair .pst file in Outlook?

Outlook 2000 cannot access .pst file. I reinstalled Office Professional CD
but it would not fix. What can I do to fix the problem? Noted something
about an Inbox repair tool but I cannot find that; maybe it's for newer
Office version. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Inbox repair tool = scanpst.exe

location tends to vary based on operating system and language. best bet is
to find it via a search in windows explorer.
