I repaired Office 2003 today, since my Word and Excel programs would not
start. In doing the repair, I must have blown away my .pst or .ost file and
had to start from scratch with Outlook.

Does anyone know how I can recover these files without paying $599 for a
recovery tool?

I do have a backup of my hard drive on my Maxstor device, but I don't really
know how to search it for find these files there.

Thanks.

Dbl. Click "My Computer"
Dbl. Click your C: Drive
Dbl. Click "Documents and Settings"
Dbl. Click "your username"
Dbl. Click "Local Settings"

*** if you don't see the "Local Settings" folder:
Click on "Tools" "Folder Options" "View Tab" and
Turn On "View Hidden Files and Folders" (Radio Button)
May as well "UnHide File Extensions" at the same time!***

Dbl. Click "Application Data"
Dbl. Click "Microsoft"
Dbl. Click "Outlook"
Turn on "View Details"

Do you see an Outlook file that would be the Size, data and time of the one
you thought you'd lost?

If you do then:

Open Outlook and go to:

"File"
"Import and Export"
"Import from another program or file"
Scroll down to "Personal Folder File"
"Browse" to find the file you found above.....
and Import it..

If you don't find the file in the above location then do a Search in your
Documents and Settings folder and also your Backup drive for - *.pst - and
see what happens.
If you locate some .pst files then repeat the import process.

Hope that helps.
