how can I prevent anyone to read my mail in outlook

Is there a way to set up a password to log on Outlook? The way I have it set
up now, anyone can open and read my mail!

You have posted this message to the wrong news group.
The access in this newsgroup's title refers to Microsoft Access, a
database product.
I would suggest you post to the appropriate Outlook newsgroup.

Microsoft's Help system has landed you in the wrong newsgroup: this
one is for the database program Microsoft Access.

Please use the dropdown box (the one that says "Access" by default)
to select a more appropriate newsgroup, such as
microsoft.public.outlook.general or .security.
