How can I make the Callout show up in Microsoft Powerpoint?

I am trying to finish up a project in Microsoft Powerpoint and really could
use some help and guidance. I am trying to use a Callout and it won't show up
in the cloud that I chose for the Callout. If you could tell me how I can get
it to show up I would really appreciate it!

Tell us what version of PPT you use and exactly what steps you're following so
far. For example:

PowerPoint 2003
I click AutoShapes, Callouts and click the Cloud callout button.
I click and drag on the slide to define the size of the callout.
When I let go of the mouse button, the cloud callout appears, with selection
handles around it.
While it's still selected, I start to type the text I want to have appear in the
callout.

In fact, doing that should get you there.
