How can I make files go to my D: drive?

Hi,
My C drive only has 13.6 GB of memory, but my D drive has 100 GB. My C
drive is running very low on space and everytime I try to update my computer
it selects the C drive as the destination for the new files. How can I make
it so that D is selected as the default drive?

Updates likely need to be installed on the application drive, ie C
Run Disk Cleanup
Internet Options: Temp.Internet Files>Settings reduce to 50mb (delete
cookies/Files if Disk Cleanup doesnt run)
Rt Click My Documents>Properties>Move
Uninstall Apps and Custom Install to D
PS Hard Disk has 'space' memory usually refers to random access memory as
seen in memory modules

You can't do this with Windows Updates as they have to go to the same
drive as your Windows is installed on.

What you can do is to relocate other files. For example, you could
uninstall some large applications and then reinstall them, and make
sure that on the reinstall that you tell them to install onto drive D:

You could also relocate some of the standard Windows folders (such as
My Documents, My Music, Program Files, etc) to the D: drive by using
TweakUI for Windows XP from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
If you change these folder to the D: drive then anything new for these
folders will be put there. However the existing contents will still
be on C: You could simply copy over the data folder contents (My
Documents, My Pictures, My Music) to the new folders on D: and then
delete them from C: once you had verified that the copied files were
okay (and are backed up) but the existing content of Program Files
cannot be moved except by uninstalling and reinstalling.

Good luck

If you right-click on "My Documents" , go to Properties and click on "Move"
then it MOVES the whole shebang, and does not create a new folder which all
subsequent files are put in, leaving the old files still on C:......
