How can I insert the Outlook Contact addresses in Word while Outlook is not the default e-mail progr

Hi,

Lotus Notes is the e-mail & calendar application in the company where I work (not my choice).

In spite of that I would like to use/insert my Outlook Contacts (an extensive list that I built up through the years) in MS-Word for addressing letters, for printing address labels, etc ..

The above only works if I declare Outlook as my default e-mail program, which I cannot/may not do.

That's my problem : how can I use my Outlook Contacts anyway ?

Thank you so much in advance for a solution.

Regards,
Picsou

Here's one:

From Outlook:

File > Import/Export
The Import/Export wizard appears;
Choose to export a file;
On the next screen, choose to create an Excel file;
Then choose your Contacts folder;
Finish.

Sorry, Have this problem... I often hit CTRL-Enter when I want some other
combination and my half finished post are sent (sometimes I haven't even
started to type yet... anyone knows how to deactivate this from OE?)

Anyway... I was writing..
|| Then choose your Contacts folder;
Choose a destination folder and name your Excel file
Hit Finish.

You will end up with a ninety something column Excel worksheet (depending
on your Outlook version, and the level of customization...)

You will want to clean it up a bit, reduce it to the 10-20 columns you
really need.

Then you can use it to do mail merge documents...

Does that help?

I don't know how to prevent you from pressing Ctrl+Enter, but if you disable
"Send immediately," then you can retrieve the message from the Outbox and
finish it.

Thanks for the suggestion... Then I will have to remember to hit
Send/Receive all the time.... Dunno... I'll try to teach my fingers to
listen to my brain... he's the boss after all! <g>

When I first started reading the NGs, I was using Internet Mail and News
(the precursor of Outlook Express), which was/were actually two separate
apps. The default in the news client was to send messages immediately. In
the mail client, either there was a choice or messages always had to be
expressly sent (I don't now remember which). When OE was introduced, with
mail and news clients combined, I was dismayed to find this functionality
changed (a single default for both types of messages), but I soon learned
that it was a decided advantage to have some cooling off/second thought time
for news messages as well. Now I wouldn't dream of using "Send Immediately"
for either mail or news messages. I usually try to send when I have
accumulated 8-10 messages in my Outbox, or sooner if I've spent a longer
time writing a researched answer.

Thanks for the thoughts....
I'll try it both ways and see how I like it...
