How can I get to have an exchange server email system? Our computers in our
small office are all networked but not through a server.
 
You'd have to buy the software and client licenses or subscribe to a hosted Exchange service. You might want to look into the Small Business Server from Microsoft.
 
Exchange Server is a separate tool that you would need to buy. More info

what is the benefit of using exchange server versus using the network like we
do now (we don't have a server) other than out-of-office assistant through
Outlook?
 
I'm really not an Exchange expert...best to either look around the Exchange
website or ask in an Exchang newsgroup.
