How can I get my e-mail and contacts back from a PST file?

Over Christmas I had a problem with my lap top and backed up all files and
folders to a freeagent. I also backed up outlook, or thought I had! I saved
the seperate folders as PST files, I think, the icon looks like a sheet of
paper with words on it and an outlook clock on the front. can anyone help
please????

Pst-files can be directly opened in Outlook via File-> Open-> Outlook Data
File...

For future reference, don't export your data to create a backup but simply
make a copy of the original pst-file.
