How can I get my documents to default save as .doc rather than .wp

Just got Works 2005 & have been happily sending documents to colleagues via
email only to find they cant open the .wps files - probably due to their
having older versions of Works/Word. How can I get my default save in word to
change from .wps to .doc? Its driving me spare - is there something really
simple i'm missing?

Any help appreciated,

Phil

This is a question for the Works NG (microsoft.public.works.win), but if
there is no way to change the default file type, you should at least be able
to save it in the File Save dialog when you first create the document. If
..doc format is not available, use RTF.

Hi Phil-

If the version of Word is as I think, go to Tools>Options>General and choose
the default file type there.
