Help! Save as...Works .wps to Word .doc will not work?!!?

Hello-
I have microsoft works and i am unable to save my .wps
documents as anything for word .doc; I do not have Word-
would that cause the problem? I have to e-mail the
document out to a friend and have it sent back as a .doc
file to me yet i still cannot make any changes to the
document as the text formatting has been altered!

Do you have an RTF option? RTF documents can be opened in Word (as can some
versions of Works docs).
