Since it's become a defacto standard for almost all binary groups it's
time Microsoft joined the 1990s at least.

To the OP: There were several addons that would allow OE to decode
yEnc, probably there are for Windows Mail as well, Google should be
able to find them but it's probably easier to just get a better
newsreader with yEnc decoding built in, there are several and some of
the best are free. Again, Google will find them for you.

There is no W3C standard.

Nor did I say there was. None the less, yEnc is now the current
standard for posting files and pictures to Usenet and your opinions
aren't going to change it nor make it go away.

I think what he's trying to say is it's not an "official standard" but a
popular method...

Exactly what I did say, but I should have added W3C is a universally
ignored wannabe "official standard" organization. There are no
"official standards" in reality and nobody understands ignoring
standards better than Microsoft! ;-)

So many blowhards trying to come across as experts. Damn funny.

yEnc has become a defacto "standard" because a good percentage of
regular posters to some of the most popular newsgroups that have
binaries, especially large ones split into parts have switched to
encoding with yEnc years ago. That Microsoft is a decade behind the
times and doesn't support automatic yEnc decoding is typical.
Microsoft is ALWAYS late to the party. Of course anybody that's dumb
enough to use Microsoft junk when downloading material from Usenet
deserves the poor performance they get.

No, what you did say was:

Then you said:

And, of course you had to add this comment:

So, which is it? Are there really standards or only standards if they agree
with your current point of view?

My current point of view is irrelevent, since over 90% of posting of
files and pics to usenet is in yEnc that makes it the standard and,
again, neither your opinion or mine matters.

I didn't realize that was so difficult to understand?

Wow! You just can't help yourself can you?
Always, I mean you always open with an insult.
There is no hope for a person like you is there?
