How can I get files listed alphabetically in File Menu list?

Word lists files in the File dropdown menu in reverse alphabetical order. No
other program does that. Why is this. Can it be changed in Word?

Right-click a blank area in the dialog and choose Arrange Icons By >
Name. Each time you choose that, the order will reverse. And in fact
the same is true in Windows Explorer (a.k.a. My Computer) and most
other file lists in Windows.
