How can I find out what all those advanced options mean?

How can I find out what all those options mean under Internet Explorer >
Tools > Options > Security > Custom Level? You know, for things like:
"Access data sources across domains" or "Launching programs or files in an
IFRAME"? Also, for things under the Advanced menu such as: "Move system
carat with focus/selection changes".

Go back to that applet. Right click on any entry
You will get a "What is this" message, again right click it, you will see
the message.
If you right click the message you will be able to copy the text to your
clipboard or print it.

p.s. make sure that you do not change the present settings. It's easy to do
if you are not careful.
