How can I enable users to modify TCP/IP properties

Konrad Rusz

Hi,

I would like to allow concrete login account to make changes in the TCP/IP
properties window in Local Area Connection (user ought to be able to alter:
IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway, Preferred and Alternate DNS
server, Advanced section, and so on). That login account has USER privileges
on the local machine. Other users should not be allowed to make this
changes.

If you have any idea, please respond.

Regards,
Konrad Rusz

Change the value of NC_LanChangeProperties to 1:
Network Connection Restrictions
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1047/

For XP Professional, use gpedit.msc > user configuration > administrative
templates > Network.

Hello,

thanks for info but my intention is to give possibility to make changes by
login account with USER privileges not ADMINISTRATOR. Your advice is very
good but in this case is not probably needful to apply.

Thanks once again,

just curious??? Why in the world would you want to let a
USER fiddle with your ip settings ANYWHERE on your
network. The less a user knows about or messes with this
aspect of networking, the better off the administrator
is! Use server based DHCP and keep the users out of it!
