How can I embed an mpg video directly into a PPT pres?

In PPT 2000, I can insert an mpg video clip into a ppt
file via Insert>Movies and Sounds to link the video file
to the ppt presentation.

I attempt to embed (rather than link) an mpg via
Insert>Object>Media Clip, and all I get on the page is a
real media icon (even though I do not select the "Display
as icon" option.

How can I embed an mpg video into a slide (so it is not
linked) and have that video, rather than an icon, appear
on the slide?

Sorry, you can't, the only sound files embedded are .wav files

I have no problem with this. Make sure you are on a
machine w/ the latest directX and video drivers and insert
the video.

Once it is pasted, you can resize it so that it is full-
screen. Let me know if that helps.
