How can I edit a slide's text in PowerPoint 2003?

Hello,

In the Outline view, I am able to edit the titles of my 13 slides using the
cursor but cannot get access to a cursor for editing the texts in the slides
themselves. The text for each slide is displayed within a rectangle I
created (300 x 250 pixels) that also contains an image. PPT 2003 apparently
identifies everything within the rectangle as a "Picture", and the only
options I can find for editing are tools in the tool bar (Text box, Select
Objects, etc.) -- and none of the tools work well for editing the text.

Is there any way I can activate use of the cursor for text editing in the
slides?

Thanks. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer.

A picture fill is an autoshape filled with a picture.
When an autoshape is inserted, double click on it. Then under fill > color,
click on the dropdown and select Fill Effects > Picture tab. Select a picture
which will fill the autoshape.
