How can I disable Messenger??

Click on "Control Panel",
Click on "Administrative Tools"
Click on "Services"
Now scroll down till you find "Messenger"
and RIGHT click on Messenger.
Click on "Properties"
Now, under the "General "tab,
choose "disable" at startup.

Worked for me anyway.
 
That is incorrect.

That disables messenger service, not Windows Messenger. Two completely
unrelated things.
