To Eliminate Messenger Service Pop Ups

To get rid of nasty pop ups in eight simple steps:

1) Click Start
2) Click Run
3) Type in "services.msc" and click OK
4) Scroll down to "Messenger"
5) Click "Messenger" and enter to open properties
6) Under "startup type" select "disabled"
7) If the "Service Status" panel (under start up type) is
accessable, click on "stop"
8) Hit "apply" at the bottom of the screen, then "ok" and
the messages are gone forever!

This works!

I have a question. If one does this, will Windows
Update's automatic settings be affected.

Definitely not -- this will have no effect on any other component in Windows.
