how can I convert a .sxw to read in an office program?

I have been sent a .sxw file, bu no office program can open it. Is there
another option, or do I need to contact the sender?

..sxw is a text file created with the OpenOffice.org word
processor. Microsoft Word cannot open this format. Contact the
sender and ask him/her to save as a Word (.doc) or Rich Text
Format (.rtf) file and send you that instead.
