To my knowledge, you'll have to open and re-save it as a .doc in OpenOffice.
Word doesn't support OO conversion. There are a fair number of conspiracy
theories about Microsoft vs. open license software, but the more practical
answer is OO isn't used enough for them to bother programming a conversion
tool.

I use OO constantly, and have yet to find a good converter other than OO
itself.
