How can I continue outline format when pressing tab?

Somehow when I press tab, it does not go to the next level. For example, when
I'm a level 2 which is "C" and press tab, it just creates another tab. It
does not go to the next level "a)
 
This is a setting in Tools | Options | Edit or Tools | AutoCorrect Options |
AutoFormat As You Type, depending on Word version, which you haven't told
us.
