Icatch(IV) Video Camera

If the problem is still there check your Start Up items using Autoruns.

A useful programme is Autoruns.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting,
or you can can right click an item and then delete it. If you uncheck
you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer approach than
editing the Registry. Another useful feature of the programme is that
you can right click an item and select Search Online to get information
about the item selected.

Ok, so 'later today' turned into 'later this week'... sorry.

The error is still appearing in event viewer for some reason.
I looked in Autoruns but there's nothing in there about Icatch, nor can I
find it anywhere else on the computer.

After uninstalling the driver the computer does seem slightly faster, but
it's hard to tell if that's just my imagining it! My mother (who usually
uses it) also said she thought it was a bit faster but it's no better when
working online.
Whether it made a difference or not, it's still definitely below what it
should be.

Also it still takes a long time to be useable after booting up but I think
that's the virus checkers running. It's always safer to leave it at least 5
mins after entering Windows (ie visible desktop).

Select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Do you have
the service Smartcard. What is the StartUp type?

What is the relationship between this computer and your laptop? Have
they been networked?

Yes, startup type is manual.

Yes... I had a lot of trouble getting the network to work properly so was
just using internet connection sharing. Now we have a new router so the
network runs through that - everything properly now I think but all I really
use it for is sharing the printer.

Basically yes there is a network which is now working fine as far as I know.
