How can I access individual slides in a PowerPoint slide show?

I received a PowerPoint presentation in slide show format. It runs
continuously. How do I access individual slides so that I can save them
separately? I've tried the right mouse options - they all have to do with
running the presentation, and nothing more.

Open PowerPoint and then go to File > Open and open the .PPS file. Now you can
save the slides as images.
