Hourglass running????

It seems like whenever I am on line....The mouse pointer
turns into a hourglass every minute or so....It last for
a duration of 5 seconds... There is no application
running execpt web-browser...Task manager shows nothing...
I am all up to date with patches..I have norton Anti-
Virus and SpySweeper..everything checks out OK....
