Greetings,

Messenger shouldn't be doing this; can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "msmsgs
processes"? aka what kind of usage is it using (assuming that's what you're referring to) and
what happens if you kill the Messenger process?

Hi,

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed? If so, To open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the
Norton Antivirus icon in the Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open Norton
Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger or
Windows Messenger (depending on version) and click OK.

Hi,

Thank u this stopped the hourglass flashing and removed msmsgs from the task
manager. Just one more question how safe is it to use msn v 7.5 without
norton monitoring it. As the check box is recemended by norton.

Thanks again

Hi,

Actually this feature will only work with Windows Messenger (which is what msmsgs is), it's
not protecting MSN Messenger. Either way, all it does is scan files once they've been
received. This is rather pointless as after you receive a file you typically view it
immediately anyway, and Norton will scan it then, regardless if this "feature" is on or not.
