hotmail works but my msn explorer freezes...HELP!!!!!!

Please HELP ME!! When I log in to MSN Explorer the next page comes up and
then freezes. It's nerve racking since I use msn explorer all the time. This
just started happening to me last week. My system tray shows the msn
explorer icon with red 'x' on it, plus same thing show w/ messenger icon with
a red 'x'. Sometimes there's two icons each. It appeared last week, and it's
driving me crazy. I do NOT want to use my e-machines Restore CD's to start
all over again...surely there must be a better way to fix this. My hotmail
works fine to get into messenger. ....but I don't WANT to get in to
messenger, I want to get in to MSN Explorer!! I have Windows XP Home
version on my system. Is there someone who knows what I can do to fix my msn
plorer problem? (hopefully without having to restore everything back from
scratch...ugh)

try doing a system restore "go back" start/all prog/acc/system tools/system
restore
choose a restore point previous to your problem.. this will not wipe
everything like using your cd's.just will take your computer back to a
previous time when it worked correctly, did you install any programs that
caused this to happen? if so they will be gone after restore..also if you
saved any pictures music etc; that cant be replaced put them on a disc before
you "go back" if your not familar with this restore option all it does is
take your computer back in time to a setting that worked correctly..
If your problem stems from a virus "not likely" the virus will be attached
to your restore point and travel back in time with it

hi kenlori: tried 'system restore' on March 7th and several times on tuesday
the 8th. The last system restore I did took couple hours for system to go
thru, is highly unusual since 'restore' only takes a minute...
The furthest date highlighted now on 'restore calendar' is last monday but
problem started on March 1st or 2nd...
My msn explorer came w/Windows when I got computer last year. Had differnt
problem happen last year, thought to just use Restore CD's came w/computer, I
thought the cd's could just fix the one problem but wiped out whole system
files,photos,music, etc.. and don't remember if restore cds have 'glosssary'
when downloading to just 'fix' my msn explorer issue and leave everything
else alone, that way won't lose everything...
One post here speaks of logging into msn explorer,when main page comes up,
it freezes, same problem I have. I click on main msn/expl page & top blue
band says " ( Not Responding...)". I click X to end (upper right hand
corner). Then a box appears 'MSN Explorer is not responding" to click 'end
now' or 'cancel'. I click 'End Now' ... frustrated!
I've downloaded several spyware/adware programs from online sites, every
scan I delete the hijackers, stuff, etc.. I downloaded 'Registry Cleaner Pro'
and their system scan logged 100+ things to delete but don't remember
deleting anything for fear of deleting something wrong.
Also, I downloaded AOL about two weeks ago ...maybe that is where the
problem lies. I will try uninstalling AOL see if that works...
Do you have any more help/suggestions to what I could do please don't
hesitate to speak up?

than two days ago. The last system restore took over hour, usually takes a
minute or so...
