Is there a way to get hotmail to launch from the desktop ?
Like mabe a bat or script file.

I don't know, but why not try asking in the newsgroup that deals with
Hotmail issues: microsoft.public.msn.discussion

Create a shortcut and specify "http://www.hotmail.com" as the location
of the item.
