Hotkey Help

Guest

Im using Power Point that came with Office XP.

I am trying to speed up the creation of slides by hotkeying text appearance
animations. I cannot figure out how or if this can be done, but each time I
create a slide I have to click slide design, custom animation, add effect,
entrance, appear. This is alot of work when creating 6-8 effects per slide
over 50 slides.

Is there a way to hotkey this entrance effect so that I can zip thru this
process faster? Im hoping I can map it to something like ctrl+w or something
silly like that.

Thank you for any help or advise on speeding this process up.

If you are using the same animations on all slide placeholders, why not put
the animations on the slide master? It will make creation quicker...

Kathy,

thanks for the tip. Im actually asking this for my wife, who is a biology
teacher, who uses power point for her lectures. I personally have no idea
how to create a slide master. I am very appreciative for your help and
advise. I will pass this info on to her, tho I doubt she knows either.

I watch her spend hours creating the slides every night and it seems that
1/2 her time is spent putting in the same appear transition slide every time.
If you could possibly elaborate on how to do this we both would be greatly
appreciative.

I understand in full! But, before I can give detailed directions, I need to
know which version of PPT she is using. The process for accessing the
masters on 2007 is very different from earlier versions.

My version of Power Point came with Office XP, under help it says MS Power
Point 2002 (10.6819.6830) SP3. If this information is not what you need, I
can try and find the correct information.

Thank you again.

That's what I needed to know.
Open the presentation. Go to the View menu. Slide down to "Masters" and over
to "Slide Master. This will bring up the slide masters. Select the
placeholder in the content master. Right click it and select "Custom
Animations". Set up the animation there. Close master view and view the
slides. She may need to apply the animations to some of the slides (there
will be an option on the animation itself) in order to pretty things up, but
this should at least get her started.

Kathy,

That is a fantastic start. She just walked thru the front door and I cant
wait to relay what you explained. IN 2 hrs she will start her preparations
and hopefully things will go faster and free up alot of her time.

I really appreciate your help.

Wow, your help was amazing. Once we understood what you meant by master, she
got her slides done fast with all the entrance animations automatically
arranged properly.

Is there a way to create this master as a template or does she have to
create the master for every presentation?

We cannot thank you enough for the guidance and help you have provided. You
easily saved us/her 30-60 minutes per night.

To save the master as a template....
Make a copy of the presentation file. Edit the copy and remove all the
slides. Use File-->Save as to save the new file as a template. PPT should
automatically put it in the right directory so that you can use it again.

Glad to be of help - that's what we are here for!
