Hello everyone, I installed the above hotfix,, through windows update, and
am one of the many ppl who have had my whole system slowdown because of it.,
http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,110385,00.asp

I want to remove this,, but there is no "remove" option in the add/remove
area of the control panel.

How do I remove this,,

Many thanks in advance,

Terrie.

It should be in add/remove programs.
Try going to my computer, search, type in the nos.Thats
one i never downloaded from update, and since last week
it disapeared from the critical list.I think its either
in#823182,824141,or 826939.814033 is/was another bad one
it too has vanished from criticals to install,i think
they're both in the roll-up from last week.

Hi Terrie, I had the same problem with slow program start-ups and I removed
the hotfix q811493 and my computer returned to normal. Here's how I removed
it: Went to add/remove programs, found the hotfix and left clicked on that
entry and the option to remove came up. I have WinXP Pro. Hope this helps.

I still have no option to remove with either right or left click,,,,,, I
have XP Pro as well..... the option just isnt there........

This has to go,, but how?...

Terrie......

One option you can use is to do a System Restore to a date prior to the
update. It only changes the Registry, not your settings or data. It's
reversible, too. Note any other updates installed at the same time as the
problem update, as they will require reinstallation after System Restore.
Go to Help and Support, type in "system restore" and look for the Wizard
reference. (It is very easy to do.)

Hot fix 811493 if you read the tech details on this
hotfix you will note that an attacker is required to have
physical access to your computer to elevate their user
status, odds are very few people really need this fix so
why install a hotfix that is known to cause system
slowdown?

The point is, ,I did,,, and now Id like to remove it and cant......

Im hoping someone will know how to get this out.......

Thanks in advance,
Terrie

What happened when you tried System Restore?

Or unless you have a poorly configures terminal services, or maybe
downloaded some sort of trojan that gives the attacker remore control
capabilities of the computer. In both cases the attacher may as well
be sat in front of the computer.
