I had Windows XP put in to upgrade my computer and now
there are many Hotfix messages each with a different
number. May I delete some of these during maintenance?
 
I assume you are talking about in "Add Remove Programs"?
those numbers/messages are abbreviations of the updates
that were installed when you "Updated"your computer,I
would not delete them if windows decided you needed them
in the 1st place as they may be security fixes etc.
