SF Gordon,
It's not a memory issue ... it's eSignal running you thru a "tracker"
that's listed in my HOSTS file that doesn't exist on the other HOSTS
file that you are now using.
If you read the (very scary!) "Privacy Policy" from eSignal you'll see
what I'm saying about the "tracking". That's what happens when you use
"freeware" you give up your privacy in exchange for free stuff, rather
that purchasing.
<quote>
While accessing and operating an eSignal product, the eSignal software
will record general statistical and tracking information

And I love this one! ...

disclose personally identifiable information about a user without express
consent

Did that and did not have any problems. That made me think of memory
issues. So I got a larger hosts file (Ad Hosts) and using it I have no
problems.
How in ---- does a nonmember post on the sites you recommend for
HiJackthis log???

Gord, what happens if you're /not/ running eSignal
[
http://www.esignal.com/download/default.asp] in the background but
/are/ running Mike's HOSTS file? Might the eSignal freeware be the
problem?
I know you're familiar with the CWShredder-Ad-aware-Spybot routine. If
none of them (updated) "fix" the problem, run HijackThis and post the
log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30.
Please do not post it here.

Shoot At the suggestion of someone in this network I fixed my email to

Tried the new hosts release and got some change but still have the
problem. Now CNN comes fully up on the screen but freezes and is
inoperable. Seattle times still will not complete and come on the
screen

SF Gordon,
With the MVP host when I put a real time data program in the
background"
What "data program"? Does this only occur only when using that
program?
I can access CNN and the Seattle Times site with no problem. (using
my HOSTS file)
http://www.cnn.com/
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/home/
Right
I have a pentium 3 -531MHz-256 RAM
without a host everything works fine
With the MVP host when I put a real time data program in the
background a attempt to open CNN or Seattle times both will not
come up (they appear to freeze) there are a few others but many
sites will come up.
! got another host file (734KB) installed and EVERYTHING works fine
. With the data program in the background all other sites come up

It may be important and it may not be but I think I should tell
those that keep the hosts file for MVPS my problem using their
file. What's the best way?? describe it here or send it somewhere
(address unknown). I now have a hosts file several times larger
that does not hinder operating programs in the background.
thanks
