Hostname doesn't Answer

Hey all.

Sometimes I have to access a remote machine, but it doesn't answer to
its hostname. Then I try using the IP and it works fine.
When I reboot the machine, it works normally again, hostname and all.

When im remote on that machine I can ping any hostname/ip and it
answers fine too.

Anyone know the exact problem here ? Maybe its the domain ?
DNS,WINS,NetBIOS ? Some other people need to access this server too and
I need to solve the problem, so any help is welcome.
The server OS is Windows 2000 Server.

Thanks.

We need more information to help. Do you access this machine in the LAN? Can you ping the hostname?
