Hosed by QuickTime

Background:
It used to be that if I clicked on a *.mpg link, the movie
would open and autoplay in a stand alone version of
MediaPlayer.

Then one day I downloaded and installed QuickTime Browser
plug-in. After which clicking on a *.mpg file would cause
the movie to play IN the browser using QuickTime player. I
did not like this and removed QuickTime from the system.

The result is that now clicking on a *.mpg link will open
MediaPlayer as the player but now it is embedded in the
browser and does not autoplay.

Question:
How do I make it so the clicking on a *.mpg link opens
MediaPlayer as a standalone application and autoplay like
it used to?

Regards.

Thanks for the quick response.
I tried the 'on top' option but it did not help.
I ended up doing a system restore point to a couple of days
earlier and that took care of it for me.

Regards.
