You may want to check that headset has two feeds where you plug into the
computer.
Feed 1 is for speakers
Feed 2 is for microphone
If you only have the one feed, then you have a headset that is designed a
jack that can handle both speaker and mic so you will need to check the
hardware that you have.
If you have two jacks then you will need to check the second is plugged in
right. If it is, then you need to check the drivers for the sound card as
that is main device for carrying the mic data.
