My home page goes directly to the MSN search page. Listed
in my preferences, it is www.cnn.com, when it loads, it
aslways seems to go to "%6e%6b%76%64%2e%75%
73/www.cnn.com" also, i can't type "www" or it just
places all that "junk" in front of any URL I type???

Sorry to say you browser has been hijacked.

The guys has basically had some of the same issues that
you are, and the answer is quite nicely laid out and easy
to follow.
