my home xp does not detect a new device on the USB, for
my DELL 5100. I found and read an artice on problem with
that was suppose to have been fixed in 2002 (article
#314634), but my xp's REGEDIT can't find an entry for USB
(see below). I do have entries for USBHU\ENUM, but it
doesnot look anything as described by the article.
this was copied from article #314634:
After you apply the preceding hotfix, you can create a
new registry key that prevents an OHCI controller from
entering Suspend mode:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the
following registry value:
Value name: DisableSelectiveSuspend
Data type: REG_DWORD
Radix: Decimal
Value data: 1
Quit Registry Editor.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the
Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of
this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows
XP Service Pack 1.
