Home to Office Networking

I am trying to connect to my PC at work from my PC or
Laptop. Can anyone explain or send to me a very simple
explanation as to how this is done.
Queries I have is what permissions are needed. If one
connection is broadband and another is dial up does this
matter. When you try the network setup wizard it asks for
a telephone number is this your connection number, the
number the wor PC uses to connect???

As you can see totally confused.

Any help grateful.

assuming you want to connect the office from home, you may want to setup
vpn.
