Simple Home Networking Query (hopefully!)

Hi,

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere. I read some other posts but I'm not
too technical and I got lost as to what was meant in some responses.

I have a home desktop, laptop and wireless broadband modem. Both PC's
connect to the modem wirelessly and connect to the internet with no problems.

A while ago I networked them (can't remember exactly how) so that I could
share files on each PC from the other one - it worked fine. For some reason
it now doesn't work anymore. They can't view shared files on each other. It
seemed to coincide with SP3 installing on both, but I don't know if that was
the issue. I've tried running network setup wizard on both but with no luck.
I can't see why it's not working.

Any help would be grately appreciated.

Can they ping each other by IP? If yes, can they ping it by name?
