how do i permanently stop web sites from going into &
changing my home page. i've been using spybot and used my
tools menu & options but its been unsuccessful. thanks

What are you doing on websites that do that to your start page. There
are legitimate methods of changing the start page (which Spybot blocks)
and there are illegitimate methods, usually spyware and/or virii and/or
sites with malicious content or intent.

Spybot only works in the Internet settings which apply to Internet
Explorer, so if you're using a different browser such as Netscape
(heaven forbid) or Mozilla (a little better), its protection will not
apply to you...
