Home Page?

Reviewing book about web design, I came across statement that "home page
should not have a Home button, because it is very annoying to click on a
button that links right back to the current page." I am thinking of my
shared border with the Home link on it that is on all my pages including my
home page. Is this an obsolete rule since I can generally find Home on home
pages on large company websites?

This would apply to most pages within a site where you have a button or link for the actual page you
are on, so I wouldn't worry about have a home link on the home page.

Having a link pointing to same page as you are on can be a good, as it can be use to force the page
to reload without having to use the browser's refresh button, if you have your browser set to not
cache pages, etc.

it's just an opinion. I think having a home button on every other page
outweighs the minor inconvenience of having it also on the home page.
if you use a FrontPage navigation bar the current page isn't represented by
a link but just a plain text word.

if you use the links properly in frontpage it won't give you a 'home' link on
your home page! Using the hierarchy/tree thing. I just manually do my links but
using the 'navigation bar' and so on, it won't give you the 'home link' on the
home page.
