I am now quite a way into the design of my site and I have a home page (index.htm) which guides visitors to various areas of the site - all working fine

Problem: I now want to have a "splash screen"? Can I make this the opening page without messing up all the current links and hyperlinks

Thanks in advance

If this isn't a trick question, yes.

Rename your current home page to something other
than "index" and name your splash screen to "index".

Do this from within Front Page and it will take care of
adjusting the links for you.

That will usually mess up the nav bars and links (to home)
The recommended way (if your host supports subwebs) is to publish the current root web intact to a subweb,
Then in the root web delete all pages and content except the home page
(edit that to include the splash page content and a link to your new subweb)
