Home Page has been Hijacked by MS!

When I sign on to IE (I'm using IE6 as 7 gave me fits), I now have as my
"home page" a splash from Microsoft advertising IE8. No matter what I put in
as my home page in tools...this crap from MS comes up. How did they do
that...and more importantly, how do I get control of my home page back?

Thank you!!!!

Thank you!!!!

Go to Internet Options in Control Panel and set it there.
Display that page you want for your home page, the open cp. internet
options, & tell it to use the current page. Or blank page if you don't
want a default page.

If you have already done what said by " Gerry" and "Twayne".

Let the IE8 Advertisement page load completly. Once it open, check the page
if there is any
settings or customization is available. I remember when I have installed IE7
for the first time. It was always opening with default IE7 setup page. I
tried a lot of time to change the Home Page through Internet Options but no
luck. Another day, I wait to load the page completely and I notice that
their were some customization option available. I answer the questions and
everything got fine.

Let us know!

This is standard MS routine for a new installation of IE (and
MS cannot tell the difference between your reinstallation of
IE.v.6 and a new installation.) In order to customize your
preferences (e.g. home page) you must complete all 2 or 3 steps
in the MS customization procedure. If not, each time you
load IE it reverts to the standard MS new user config. routine.

Hey everyone...thanks for the tips, but they're not working.
Microsoft still has my homepage hijacked to their advertisement for IE8.
Grrr.

I did NOT see any 'customization' tabs, links etc. as mentioned.

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong spot, Don. Where exactly do I find the
'customization procedure' you're talking about???

Thanks.

Suggestion, post your problem in the proper NG, ie:
internetexplorer.general, that is where the IE experts hang.

Good LUCK!

Can you change your Home Page to Blank by clicking on Use Blank, Apply
and OK. Exit and restart the computer. If that works you can then change
it to another of your choice..

With all that you've already tried, run MBAM and see if your machine is
somehow compromised and won't let you change it because of that.
