Hi again. Thanx, Rick for your response to my previous post. Unfortunately,
I tried everything you suggested to no avail; I still have several programs
that I can't re-install (the setup programs open, then close immediately).
However, I have a slightly bigger problem. I was installing a Yahoo!
toolbar, and somehow several other toolbars were installed onto my system. I
was able to get rid of the toolbars, but now my homepage has been changed (to
esearch.cc), and if I click on "view" and then "toolbars" menu, everything is
grayed out except for the ability to customize the toolbars (such as the
ability to view or stop viewing the address bar or links in the toolbar).
I'm not sure what else to do; I've been to several support sites; and have
even changed some of my registry settings (as for those; they simpply change
back when I open a new instance of IE). Any suggestions? As always, thanx
in advance. By the way, I also tried to look for information on a webmaster
or some sort of contact info for esearch.cc, but to no avail. Thanx.

You are infected with the StartPage-EZ Trojan (Trojan.Win32.StartPage.lg)

As this will have also infected restore points it is important to turn off
system restore while you remove it (don't forget to turn it back on again)

Check your antivirus software is up to date and perform a complete scan or
use one of the online scans such as panda activescan
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

Or any of the others that you will almost certainly find in following
replies.

Good Luck

I don't know who Rick is or what your original issue is. If you had
another thread going, you should have posted to it as this one is now
orphaned.

In any case, from your description above your computer is infested with
malware. Go through the following removal steps:
