I have 2 pcs running windows 2000 professional - A dell laptop with smc
wireless card and
hp desktop . I can ping the desktop from my laptop but cannot ping the
laptop
from my desktop . I want to set up file sharing on these computers . Just
wondering if anybody could help . I dont know what more information to
provide .
 
I can see my desktop from my laptop when i click on my network places and
under "workgroup" ( both my laptop and desktop are visible) .
I have also enabled Netbios over tcp/ip . Am i correct here ?

If you can ping in one direction, specifying an IP address,
but not in the other, then the problem is almost certainly
caused by a firewall.
