Hi There,

I am trying to set up a network between 2 machines.

They are connected via a hub. The network settings I have for each
machine at the moment are as follows

IP Address 10.0.0.1 for one machine and 10.0.0.2 for the other.

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

DNS 195.95.195.97

I cant get the two machines to see each other. Both the network cards
are working fine, using the correct cable and all windows updates are
installed.

Are there any settings I have wrong or is there anything else i should
be doing?
microsoft tcp\ip version 6 is active as default.

An interesting start. Generally, IPV6 is a problem. Start with these articles:

If no help there, look for the more common causes of this problem, a
misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security component.
There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your
problem. Read this article with an open mind.

Do the two computers have Internet service? Connected how?

Let's look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", and "net config" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Just curious - what are the "strange problems" you are having? Also I don't
think a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 is appropriate for 10.*.*.*.

Ah-HAH! Yeah I did check the cables. That was the first problem i
thought of too, but everythings cable-wise seems to be fine.

Thanks tho Dave :)
