Hello,

I have a ADSL wireless modem/router, which also has 4 network ports. I
connect my desktop through one of the network ports and a laptop through the
wireless.

Both connect to the internet with no problems.

I am trying to set up a network so the laptop can access folders and a
printer which are attached to the desktop.

Any ideas how I should do this, I've tried a couple of the 'Set up network'
wizards in XP, but couldn't get it to work (laptop cannot see desktop folders
or printer).

Thanks

Graham,

Since you have connectivity, look next for a misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other
possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article
with an open mind.

To diagnose the problem further, look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all",
"net config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
